It's spring!

And there are so many great books coming out! I am so so so excited for all the amazing spring books that are coming out.

The Selection Trilogy is finally coming to a close and we'll know who America is going to choose!

Also coming to a close, Wren and Callum's story that I got so sucked into in Reboot!

And Sleep No More? Well it looks pretty fantastic.

These three amazing and lovely authors are authors I got to meet last year on the Dark Days tour, and we had so much fun, we ate such great food, and of course we got to talk about books.

That's why this year, I'm so very excited to read each of these books. So much so, that I'm also going to give each of them away. (And I'm going to try hard to get copies of the books signed...)

SCAVENGER HUNT POST

Today I'm hosting the fabulously talented Teri Harman on my blog for the YA Scavenger Hunt!

Currently, Teri Harman's book shelf is over flowing, her laundry unfolded and her three small children running mad while she writes bewitching novels. Teri also writes a bi-weekly book column for ksl.com and contributes book segments to KSL's Studio 5 lifestyle show.

Find out more about Teri and her debut novel Blood Moon here

Check out the awesome cover:

Isn't it gorgeous? I love the classic feel that it has to it.

Even more than that, I love the book!

Here's what Teri has to say about it:

Blood Moon started as research for an epic Halloween party at a 100 year old school house. Then it became an enchanting, mysterious tale of witchcraft, twisted bad guys and the endurance of young love. It is the first book in the Moonlight Trilogy, for older teens and adults.
It's got witches and magic and I adore Willa and Simon.

I can't wait for Black Moon. I've already added it to goodreads--you should too.

And don't forget to enter the contest for a chance to win a ton of signed books by me, Teri Harman, and more! To enter, you need to know that my favorite number is 13. Add up all the favorite numbers of the authors on the blue team and you'll have all the secret code to enter for the grand prize!

Final BEA Giveaway

Today was the last day of BEA and it might have been the best. Books were everywhere on the floor, even more people seemed to be moving through the convention center. It was awesome.

Here's what I have for the final giveaway:

All Our Yesterdays by Cristin Terrill: It's The Terminator meets Time Traveler's Wife--um, yes please. It was also on the YA Buzz panel on Thursday and I was so bummed not to get it. Thankfully I complained about not getting it and two people picked it up for me today.

Teardrop by Lauren Kate: This is the first book in her new series and it's beautiful! It's described as an epic saga of heart-stopping romance, devastating secrets, and dark magic . . . a world where everything you love can be washed away.

Pretenders by Lisi Harrison: A contemporary expose revealing the secret diaries of the five most "outstanding" students from last year's freshmen class.

Truth or Dare by Jacqueline Green: When a simple round of truth or dare spins out of control, three girls find it’s no longer a party game. It’s do or die.

All the Truth That's in Me by Julie Berry: A friend told me this was the best book she's read this year. Four years ago, Judith and her best friend disappeared from their small town of Roswell Station. Two years ago, only Judith returned, permanently mutilated, reviled and ignored by those who were once her friends and family. Unable to speak, Judith lives like a ghost in her own home, silently pouring out her thoughts to the boy who’s owned her heart as long as she can remember—even if he doesn’t know it—her childhood friend, Lucas. But when Roswell Station is attacked, long-buried secrets come to light, and Judith is forced to choose: continue to live in silence, or recover her voice, even if it means changing her world, and the lives around her, forever.

BEA Giveaway #3

I had another fun and stressful and awesome day at BEA. It's not even over and I'm feeling ready to drop. Even the tops of my feet hurt.

If you aren't here or didn't have a chance to pick up anything awesome, here's what you can win:

Just Like Fate by Cat Patrick and Suzanne Young: I think this is like a Sliding Doors for teens. It's about a girl who faces a choice on fateful Friday night: stay by her dying grandmother's bedside for what might be her final hours (like she has been for days) or go to a party with her best friend and live her life. The book examines the two distinct ways for her fate to unfold.

Parasite by Mira Grant: In the future genetically engineered tapeworm has prevented sickness and disease. Almost everyone has one living within them. Only these parasites are restless. They want their own lives and will do anything to get them.

The Universe Versus Alex Woods by Gavin Extence: Alex Woods was struck by a meteorite, bullied by his peers, and befriended by a curmudgeonly widower. Now, 17, he's stopped at Dover customs with 113 grams of marijuana, an urn full of ashes on the passenger seat, and an entire nation in uproar. And he's fairly sure he's done the right thing...

The Enchanter Heir by Cinda Williams Chima: Universes collide, intrigues abound, and familiar faces return in this brilliant new chapter in the beloved and best-selling Heir Chronicles series.

BEA Giveaway #2

If you're not at BEA or you didn't get to grab these books, here's your chance to have them anyway. I'll even ship them to you. BEA presents without having to fight for them!

The day isn't even over yet, and I already have grabbed so many great things to read. Here are the ones I'm giving away:

Cherry Money Baby by John M Cusick: Hollywood glitz collides with working-class aspirations in this satirical tale of an impulsive starlet and a sharp-witted small-town teen.

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell: This is the follow up to the fabulous Eleanor & Park (which is on top of my TBR list!). It's a coming of age tale about fanfiction, family, and first love.

Splintered by AG Howard with a special teaser of Unhinged: This reimagining of Alice in Wonderland is a fabulous book--and I'm excited for the sequel!

Fortunately the Milk by Neil Gaiman: This book is signed! It's a hilarious new story from Neil Gaiman and illustrator Skottie Young.

The Secret of Ella and Micha by Jessica Sorensen: This is for all of us New Adult fans. It's the paperback edition of the bestselling contemporary romance.

If You Could Be Mine by Sara Farizan: This is the book I think I'm most excited about after today's BEA. It's a debut about a seventeen year old girl in love with her female best friend in Iran.

#BeUnbreakble Contest!

It's official. Unbreakable is out in the world (or at least, the US) today!

I'm so excited to share this book with everyone.

Last year, when Unraveling was released, I was just finishing my edits for the sequel. Having a debut novel released was a surreal and wonderful experience. But I couldn't help be nervous for the sequel.

Unbreakable was the first novel I wrote on a deadline. It was also the first novel I wrote and edited while seeing the reviews and reactions to its predecessor. It was exciting and terrifying at the same time.

Now with the release of this book, I'm a stronger writer and a stronger person, and I'm so glad that I get to share another novel with you. And I'm overjoyed that it's this novel, which I poured my blood, sweat, and tears into (sometimes literally).

To celebrate Unbreakable's release, I have a contest for us!

The Details

Ten (10) winners will receive Unbreakable swag with...

- bookmarks
- signed bookplates
- stickers
- magnets
- an extra content booklet complete with four short stories
- a poster

The poster is really special to me. It's based on a pivotal scene in the series, and a good friend of mine painted it for me. It looks like this:

by the fabulous Travis Poelle

Five (5) winners will receive Unbreakable swag (everything above) and...

- an annotated copy of either Unraveling or Unbreakable, your choice
- an ebook of Undone (for you or to be gifted to a friend)
- signed copies of these Dark Days books: The Elite by Kiera Cass, Life After Theft by Aprilynne Pike, and Reboot by Amy Tintera

To Enter

Buy a copy of Unbreakable any time between now and May 15th (pre-orders count!). Hold onto your receipt/email confirmation. If you're a winner, you'll need it to claim your price.

Then take a picture of you with your copy of Unbreakable and post it to twitter, tumblr, or instagram with the hashtag #BeUnbreakable.

Like this:

On Teachers, Librarians, and Free Copies of Unraveling

When I was teaching, I had a lot of students who said things like, “I hate reading” or “I haven’t read anything since Goosebumps in third grade.” (I taught high school English classes, so presumably anyone who had managed to get into Honors American Literature should have read something since Goosebumps.)

As a result I always prided myself on finding just the right book that changed their minds. Which means I know first hand how important it is for librarians and teachers to have books—and how much money it can cost (sometimes out of your own pocket) in order to maintain that.

So I’m giving away 100 FREE copies of Unraveling to teachers, librarians, or coordinators or programs that promote literacy.

Enclosed with the book will be a hard copy of the discussion guide, and I’ll be happy to personalize the book for anyone who wants it personalized. (Signed books and anything by Jodi Picoult were the most commonly stolen books from my classroom library, so I won’t take offense if you don’t want my signature.)

If you’re a teacher, librarian, or coordinator of a program that advocates literacy, and you’d like a free copy of Unraveling, fill out this form. If you aren’t, but you know someone who is, please pass along the information!

This is first come, first serve until those 100 books are gone. But I will ship anywhere in the US. (Sorry everyone not in the US—as I’m paying for the shipping myself, I’ve got to stay in my own budget).

The Unbreakable Giveaway

Unbreakable ARCs are here. In fact I have three of them.

The question is who wants one? They really don't do anyone any good if they're just sitting on my bookshelf at home, right?

So I'm giving those copies away and giving someone the chance to go on a date with Ben.

Here are the details:

Two winners will get an advanced copy of Unbreakable

and

One grand prize winner will get an advanced copy of Unbreakable and be able to name a character in the novella

Now this character that you'd have to name, here's the deal--she's going on a date with Ben, and she needs a name. You can name her after yourself, after someone else, or you can make a name up.*

The contest is open internationally and is open from right now until midnight Dec 14th.
I'm happy to sign the ARCs if you want them signed.
If you haven't read Unraveling, you can still enter. I can send you a copy of Unraveling instead.

If you don't win, you can request and ARC of Unbreakable by filling out this form.

To enter the contest:
Fill out the rafflecopter below. There are chances for extra entries of course.

*The name does have to be approved by my editor, but she's never had a problem with one of my names.

July Must Read Giveaway

I'm insanely excited for all the awesome books coming out in 2012, and I decided what better way to celebrate than to pick the book I'm most excited for each month and give it away.

My July 2012 pick is Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard. I heard about Susan's book probably a year ago and have been dying to read it ever since. Steampunk and Zombies in historical Philadelphia--how could that not be amazing?

There’s something strange and deadly loose in Philadelphia…

Eleanor Fitt has a lot to worry about. Her brother has gone missing, her family has fallen on hard times, and her mother is determined to marry her off to any rich young man who walks by. But this is nothing compared to what she’s just read in the newspaper—

The Dead are rising in Philadelphia.

And then, in a frightening attack, a zombie delivers a letter to Eleanor…from her brother.

Whoever is controlling the Dead army has taken her brother as well. If Eleanor is going to find him, she’ll have to venture into the lab of the notorious Spirit-Hunters, who protect the city from supernatural forces. But as Eleanor spends more time with the Spirit-Hunters, including their maddeningly stubborn yet handsome inventor, Daniel, the situation becomes dire. And now, not only is her reputation on the line, but her very life may hang in the balance.

So to win, just fill out the form below between now and midnight on July 20th (EST)!

June Must Read Giveaway

I'm insanely excited for all the awesome books coming out in 2012, and I decided what better way to celebrate than to pick the book I'm most excited for each month and give it away.

My June 2012 pick is...

Leigh Bardugo's Shadow and Bone. It's a YA fantasy novel that I had been hearing amazing things about even before I got my hands on an ARC. As a huge fantasy fan, I'd been dying to read it ever since I first heard about it. And I know Leigh on twitter and she's totally awesome.

And of course then I did read it. And WOW. I went in with high expectations because of all the great things I'd heard, and this novel surpassed them all. The characters are amazing, the world is real and wonderful, the plot is mind-blowing. It's a book no one should miss.

Inspired by Tsarist Russia, SHADOW & BONE brings to life a fantasy world of superstition and science, saints and samovars, in which a lonely refugee must leave behind her best friend- and first love- to save her country from the growing darkness of the Unsea. But first she must contend with the dangerous and decadent world of the kingdom’s magical elite and their powerful leader, a creature of dark charm and deadly ambition.

To win a copy of Shadow and Bone, just fill out the form below between now and midnight on June 7th (EST).

Good luck!

May Must Read Giveaway

I'm insanely excited for all the awesome books coming out in 2012, and I decided what better way to celebrate than to pick the book I'm most excited for each month and give it away.

My May 2012 pick is Bitterblue by the amazing Kristin Cashore who is one of my favorite novels. From the description it sounds nothing short of amazing.

The long-awaited companion to New York Times bestsellers Graceling and Fire

Eight years after
Graceling, Bitterblue is now queen of Monsea. But the influence of her father, a violent psychopath with mind-altering abilities, lives on. Her advisors, who have run things since Leck died, believe in a forward-thinking plan: Pardon all who committed terrible acts under Leck's reign, and forget anything bad ever happened. But when Bitterblue begins sneaking outside the castle--disguised and alone--to walk the streets of her own city, she starts realizing that the kingdom has been under the thirty-five-year spell of a madman, and the only way to move forward is to revisit the past.

Two thieves, who only steal what has already been stolen, change her life forever. They hold a key to the truth of Leck's reign. And one of them, with an extreme skill called a Grace that he hasn't yet identified, holds a key to her heart.

February Must Read Giveaway Encore!

I'm insanely excited for all the awesome books coming out in 2012, and I decided what better way to celebrate than to pick the book I'm most excited for each month and give it away. I couldn't actually narrow it down to just one book so there's another chance to win this month.

My encore pick is Harbinger by Sara Wilson Etienne. For the longest time I didn't know anything about the book, but I couldn't get the cover out of my head. I mean, with this cover, it's not an easy book to overlook.

Then I read the description and just knew that this was going to have to be on my to read list. It's a psychological thriller!

When sixteen-year-old Faye arrives at Holbrook Academy, she doesn’t expect to find herself exactly where she needs to be. After years of strange waking visions and nightmares, her only comfort the bones of dead animals, Faye is afraid she’s going crazy. Fast.

But her first night at Holbrook, she feels strangely connected to the school and the island it sits on, like she’s come home. She’s even made her first real friends, but odd things keep happening to them. Every morning they wake on the floors of their dorm rooms with their hands stained red.

Faye knows she’s the reason, but what does it all mean? The handsome Kel tries to help her unravel the mystery, but Faye is certain she can’t trust him; in fact, he may be trying to kill her—and the rest of the world too.

Rich, compelling writing will keep the pages turning in this riveting and tautly told psychological thriller.

So to win, fill out the form below between now and midnight on February 21st!

February Must Read Giveaway

I'm insanely excited for all the awesome books coming out in 2012, and I decided what better way to celebrate than to pick the book I'm most excited for each month and give it away.

For February 2012, I actually couldn't decide between two awesome debuts, so there are two chances to win. The first chance is for Born Wicked by Jessica Spotswood. It's an alternate history about witches, all I keep hearing about it are fabulous things, and again the cover is beautiful.

Everybody knows Cate Cahill and her sisters are eccentric. Too pretty, too reclusive, and far too educated for their own good. But the truth is even worse: they're witches. And if their secret is discovered by the priests of the Brotherhood, it would mean an asylum, a prison ship—or an early grave.

Before her mother died, Cate promised to protect her sisters. But with only six months left to choose between marriage and the Sisterhood, she might not be able to keep her word . . . especially after she finds her mother's diary, uncovering a secret that could spell her family's destruction. Desperate to find alternatives to their fate, Cate starts scouring banned books and questioning rebellious new friends, all while juggling tea parties, shocking marriage proposals, and a forbidden romance with the completely unsuitable Finn Belastra.

If what her mother wrote is true, the Cahill girls aren't safe. Not from the Brotherhood, the Sisterhood—not even from each other.

To win, fill out the form below between now and midnight on February 7th, and check back on the 15th for another February Must Read Giveaway.

January Must Read Giveaway

I'm insanely excited for all the awesome books coming out in 2012, and I decided what better way to celebrate than to pick the book I'm most excited for each month and give it away.

My January 2012 pick is Everneath by Brodi Ashton. I love Greek mythology, so I was excited about this one as soon as I heard it ties into the myth of Persephone and the Underworld. I also think the cover is simply to die for. (I really want that dress).

It doesn't come out until 1/24 but I managed to snag an ARC and I just finished reading it. It's amazing.

Last spring, Nikki Beckett vanished, sucked into an underworld known as the Everneath, where immortals Feed on the emotions of despairing humans. Now she's returned- to her old life, her family, her friends- before being banished back to the underworld... this time forever.

She has six months before the Everneath comes to claim her, six months for good-byes she can't find the words for, six months to find redemption, if it exists.

Nikki longs to spend these months reconnecting with her boyfriend, Jack, the one person she loves more than anything. But there's a problem: Cole, the smoldering immortal who first enticed her to the Everneath, has followed Nikki to the mortal world. And he'll do whatever it takes to bring her back- this time as his queen.

If you want to win a copy of Everneath, fill out the form below between now and midnight January 20th (EST).
